Neither shy nor angry

Neither shy nor angry

From east to west I wander

Path illuminated

To travel with ease

Were it not for

Patches of darkness

As if to warn, “Police Line: Do Not Cross”

But when I try to look more closely, to study the shadows

they grow shy, or angry, I know not which

Morning sun

Warming the back of my heart

I turn

To steal a peek

The source

Of guiding light

And dancing shadow

Winks through the tapestry of early spring

Again, I turn, a knowing smile

Steadily onward, unafraid

The shadow, neither shy, nor angry

falls harmlessly behind

As is always does, as it always will
